चैत्र नवरात्रि: हिन्दू कैलेंडर के अनुसार, चैत्र माह की पहली तिथि से नवरात्रि 2024 की शुरुआत होती है, जिस दिन हिन्दू नववर्ष का भी आरंभ होता है। इस दिन से
भारतीय सनातन हिन्दू धर्म में आषाढ़ मास के शुक्ल पक्ष की एकादशी पर देवशयनी एकादशी मनाई जाती है, जिसमें भगवान विष्णु 4 महीने के लिए क्षीरसागर में शयन के लिए जाते हैं जिसे चतुर्मास कहते हैं, इन चतुर्मास की गहरी नींद के बाद कार्तिक मास के शुक्ल पक्ष की एकादशी तिथि के दिन भगवान विष्णु सृष्टि का पालन करने के लिए फिर से उठते है इसलिए इसे देवउठनी एकादशी भी कहा जाता है। इसे प्रबोधिनी एकादशी भी कहा जाता है। यह त्यौहार दीपावली के बाद ठीक 11वें दिन बाद मनाया जाता है। भगवान विष्णु चतुर्मास के बाद सबसे पहले तुलसी से विवाह करते हैं इसलिए इस दिन तुलसी विवाह का त्यौहार बड़ी ही धूमधाम से मनाया जाता है। जिसके अंतर्गत तुलसी का पौधा और शालिग्राम जी का औपचारिक विवाह होता है। तुलसी विवाह के दिन लोग अपने घरों में सत्यनारायण कथा और भगवान विष्णु जी के अनुष्ठान आदि भी करते हैं। इसी दिन से हिन्दू समाज में शादी-विवाह के कार्यक्रम फिर से शुरू हो जातें है।
Ekadashi Devshayani Ekadashi is celebrated on the Ekadashi of Shukla Paksha of Ashadh month in Indian Sanatan Hindu religion, in which Lord Vishnu goes to sleep in Kshirsagar for 4 months, which is called Chaturmas, of these Chaturmas. After a deep sleep, on the day of Ekadashi of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month, Lord Vishnu wakes up again to follow the creation, hence it Devuthani Ekadashi also calledIt Prabodhini Ekadashi also calledThis festival is celebrated on the 11th day after Diwali. Lord Vishnu marries Tulsi first after Chaturmas, hence the festival of Tulsi Vivah is celebrated with great pomp on this day. Under which the formal marriage of Tulsi plant and Shaligram ji takes place. On the day of Tulsi Vivah, people also perform Satyanarayan Katha and rituals of Lord Vishnu in their homes. From this day onwards, the marriage programs in Hindu society start again.
माता तुलसी कौन थी इसके पीछे एक प्रसिद्ध कथा प्रचलित है। तुलसी जिसे आज हम सिर्फ एक पौधा समझते हैं वो अपने पूर्व जन्म में राक्षस कुल में जन्मी वृंदा नाम की लड़की थी, जो कि भगवान विष्णु की परम भक्त थी। वृंदा का विवाह राक्षसों के राजा जलंधर से हुआ था। जलंधर एक दिग्विजय राक्षस था जिसके अत्याचारों से देवता बहुत परेशान थे। वह जब भी युद्ध में जाता तो वृंदा संकल्प लेकर युद्ध जीतने तक विष्णु जी की तपस्या में लीन हो जाती थी। ऐसे ही एक बार जब जलंधर और देवताओं भीषण युद्ध हुआ तो जलंधर के प्रकोप से देवता युद्ध में कमज़ोर पड़ गए। तब वे अपनी इस समस्या को लेकर श्री हरि विष्णु के पास गए।
A famous story behind the marriage of Tulsi- who was Maa Tulsi. Tulsi, which we consider only a plant today, was a girl named Vrinda, who was a devotee of Lord Vishnu, born in a demon clan in her previous birth. Vrinda was married to Jalandhar, the king of the demons. Jalandhar was a Digvijay demon whose atrocities caused the gods to be very upset. Whenever he went to war, Vrinda used to get absorbed in the penance of Vishnu ji till he won the war with determination. Similarly, once when Jalandhar and the gods fought fiercely, the gods were weakened by the wrath of Jalandhar. Then he went to Shri Hari Vishnu with his problem.
विष्णु जी ने बताया कि वृंदा मेरी सच्ची भक्त है जिसके संकल्प के कारण जलंधर हमेशा विजय होता है और आपकी मदद करके मैं अपनी उस भक्त के साथ छल नही कर सकता। तब देवताओं के अनुग्रह पर और धर्म के अस्तित्व की रक्षा के लिए भगवान विष्णु जलंधर का ही रूप लेकर वृंदा के पास गए। उन्हें देखकर वृंदा ने अपना संकल्प तोड़ दिया और इधर देवताओं ने जलंधर का सिर धड़ से अलग कर दिया। तब वृंदा ने सच को जानकर विष्णु जी को पत्थर होने का श्राप दे दिया जिससे वे पत्थर के हो गए। इस घटना से चारों तरफ हाहाकार मच गया। तब माता लक्ष्मी के समझाने पर वृंदा ने विष्णु जी को श्राप से मुक्त कर दिया और जलंधर के सिर को लेकर सती हो गई, सती होने के बाद वृंदा की पवित्र राख से एक पौधा निर्मित हुआ। वृंदा की इतनी अनन्य भक्ति, तेज और पतिव्रता धर्म से प्रभावित होकर भगवान विष्णु ने उस पौधे को तुलसी नाम दिया और उस पौधे के हर तत्व को संसार के कल्याण के लिए उपयोगी होने का वरदान दिया और अपने पत्थर के स्वरूप को शालिग्राम नाम देकर उस रूप को अपनी पत्नी स्वीकार किया।
Vishnu ji told that Vrinda is my true devotee, due to whose determination Jalandhar always wins and with your help I cannot deceive my devotee. Then on the grace of the gods and to protect the existence of religion, Lord Vishnu took the form of Jalandhar and went to Vrinda. Seeing them, Vrinda broke her resolve and here the gods beheaded Jalandhar. Then Vrinda, knowing the truth, cursed Vishnu to be a stone, due to which he turned to stone. There was outcry all around due to this incident. Then on the persuasion of Mother Lakshmi, Vrinda freed Vishnu from the curse and became sati with Jalandhar’s head, after being sati, a plant was made from the sacred ashes of Vrinda. Impressed by Vrinda’s devotion, fast and virtuous religion, Lord Vishnu named that plant as Tulsi and gave every element of that plant a boon to be useful for the welfare of the world and Shaligram by namingaccepted his wife.
हर साल कार्तिक मास की एकादशी पर भगवान विष्णु के शालिग्राम रूप के साथ तुलसी के पौधे का विवाह किया जाता है। शालिग्राम जी पर हमेशा एक तुलसी का पत्ता अवश्य रखा जाता है, उसके बिना शालिग्राम पूजा सफल नही मानी जाती। भगवान विष्णु की मूर्ति पर भी हमेशा तुलसी का पत्ता और तुलसी मंजरी चढ़ाई जाती है। विष्णु जी के हर भोग और प्रसाद में तुलसी का पत्ता होना अनिवार्य माना जाता है। तुलसी विवाह का त्यौहार मांगलिक कार्यों की शुरुआत का प्रतीक है।

यही नहीं, किसी के मृत्यु के समय तुलसी के पत्ते खिलाने का रिवाज़ है जिससे मृत्यु के बाद फैलने वाले रोगाणु नही पनपते। इंसान की मृत्यु के बाद सुखी तुलसी की लकड़ियों के साथ ही चिता को जलाया जाता है, मान्यता है कि ऐसा करने से उस आत्मा को भगवान विष्णु के बैकुंठ धाम में स्थान मिलता है जिसके बाद वह जन्म और मृत्यु के चक्र से दूर हो जाता है।
